| dc.description.abstract | This thesis focuses on the success of the PSMS Medan team in winning the 1985 United Premier Division Competition. This thesis explains the journey of the PSMS Medan team starting from the preparation of the PSMS Medan team before participating in the competition, the journey of the PSMS Medan team during the competition and the results obtained by the PSMS team Field during competition. This research process uses historical methods, starting with determining the topic. Next, in the heuristic stage (source collection), the author uses primary sources in the form of newspapers, articles, newsletters, etc. Then use secondary sources in the form of books and journals. The sources are then verified (criticized), through external criticism to obtain the authenticity of the source and internal criticism to produce credibility of historical facts. Then, the verification results are interpreted in the form of analysis and synthesis to produce a historical narrative. Lastly, historiography, reconstructing historical facts that have been collected. The results of the research show that PSMS Medan emerged as champions in the 1985 union main division competition after defeating Persib Bandung in the final. PSMS' success in becoming champions in 1985 was based on the pattern of play, the mentality of the players, the teamwork of the players both on and off the field. The 1985 title was the last title for PSMS Medan in the highest caste of Indonesian football. There are many factors that make PSMS Medan no longer a regular champion due to financial problems, the players' fighting power, facilities and unorganized playing patterns. | en_US |
