dc.description.abstractThis research discusses directive speech acts in the cartoon film علي بن النفيس / 'Alī Bin An-Nafīs / Karya Syarif Jamal. The problem of this research is how to use directive speech acts towards the characters in the cartoon film بن النفيس / 'Alī Bin An-Nafīs /. The aim of this research is to identify the forms and types of directive speech acts in the cartoon film بن النفيس / 'Alī Bin An-Nafīs /. There are two theories usedl in thisl reselarch, namely the ltheoryl of directive lspeech act forms developed by Ibrahim anld types of speelch aclts developed by Wijana. Tlhe methlod usedl in this relsearch is the listening lmethod using note taking techniques and data collection by listening and recording each utterance in the form of dialogue in the cartoon film. The research results showed that 6 forms of directive speech acts were found, namely: questions, orders, requests, advice, prohibitions and giving permission. Meanwhile, 3 of the 8 types of speech acts were found, namely: directl spelech acts, litelral direct spelech acts, nonl literal lindirect lspeech acts.en_US
