Analisis Penyusutan Arsip Dinamis Inaktif di Kantor Arsip Universitas Sumatera Utara

Abstract

This research aims to determine how inactive dynamic archives at the University of North Sumatra Archives Office depreciate. A descriptive and qualitative approach was used in this study as a research methodology. The data collection techniques were through observation, interviews and documentation. Primary and secondary data were gained from the data collection. Data analysis is used for data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Data validity includes source, technical, and time triangulation. Based on ANRI Head Regulation Number 37 of 2016 Article 1 upon Archive Depreciation, which was issued through the Regulation of North Sumatra University Chancellor Number 23 of 2021 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Archives, the result shows that Archive depreciation can be done in three ways. First, archives were transferred from Archives Unit II to the Archives Office of the University of Sumatra North, which followed the archive transfer procedure. Second, the destruction of archives is carried out at the Archives Office of the University of North Sumatra, as well as in Archives II Units, by selecting the archives to be destroyed per the Archives Retention Schedule. Archive destruction is carried out using a shredding machine. Third, the selection of previous archives is handed over by looking at archive criteria, such as looking at types of archives that have historical use value, archives that have expired based on their retention period, and archives that are stated to be permanent by the Archive Retention Schedule of the archive creator.
