| dc.description.abstract | Research on the Role of the Surrounding Community Analiyst in the Management of the Arboretum of the University of North Sumatra (USU) in Kwala Bekala, Deli Serdang Regency, uses qualitative descriptive analysis methods with data collection using field observation methods and interviews. This research will be conducted from June 2023 to August 2023. This study uses data reduction analysis, data presentation, and conclusion drawing in qualitative descriptive analysis to determine the role of the community in aspects of community knowledge related to the USU Arboretum, knowing the factors that influence the role of the community in management and the relationship between the characteristics of respondents and the role of the community related to the USU Arboretum. The results showed that there were 31 respondents covering three aspects, including knowledge, attitudes, and actions. The role of the community in the aspect of knowledge: 65% of the total respondents do not know, and 35% of the total respondents do not know about the USU Arboretum. The attitude aspect showed that 58% of the total respondents agreed and 42% disagreed regarding the policy asked. The action aspect shows that 52% of all respondents are very willing to participate in various management and maintenance activities of the USU Arboreum, and there are 48% of respondents who say they are willing to take part in maintaining the sustainability of the USU Arboretum. Factors that influence the role of the community in the management of the USU Arboretum include the lack of insight of the surrounding community regarding the potential, utilization, and management of the USU Arboretum, environmental awareness and education, accessibility and facilities, involvement of related parties, community empowerment, participation in maintenance activities, education, and community programs, as well as financial support, culture, and local values. It is hoped that policies and cooperation between the management of the USU Arboretum and the community can continue to ensure the development of the potential of the USU Arboretum by increasing the role of the community. | en_US |
