Ketahanan Papan Partikel Berbahan Limbah Padat Organik terhadap Serangan Rayap Tanah (Coptotermes curvignathus)

Abstract

Particle boards made from lignocellulosic materials derived from wood are susceptible to attack by wood-destroying insects, especially termites. As wood-eating insects (xylophagus), termites need the cellulose contained in wood as food. This research aimed to test the resistance of particle board made from organic solid waste to subterranean termite attacks, which was carried out using the graveyard test method. This test was carried out according to SNI 01-7202-2006 standards. 20 cm long particle board is planted in the ground and the remaining 5 cm above the ground surface. Testing was carried out for one hundred days. The parameters observed included mass loss and visual assessment, the weight loss value ranged between 12.25%-47.91%. The best durability produced in this study was particle board made from organic solid waste with wood powder with a ratio of 75:25% equal to 12.25%. The worst board durability was produced in the control board with a ratio of 100% organic solid waste of 47.91%.
