Mangrove forests are commonly found along tropical and subtropical coasts in tidal zones and are the only known woody halophytes. Mangrove forests are one of the most productive and efficient long-term natural carbon sinks, where mangroves can absorb 3 times more carbon than other forests. This study was conducted in a natural mangrove forest located in Gambus Laut Village, Limapuluh District, Batubara Regency. To obtain the value of biomass and carbon stored in the mangrove forest of Gambus Laut Village using non-destructive or non-harvesting methods by measuring diameter and height. The allometric formula was used in calculating the biomass and carbon of mangrove stands. The calculated carbon storage includes biomass and carbon storage in tree stands, dead wood and soil sediments, The types of mangroves found in the mangrove forest of Gambus Laut village are 8 species including Avicennia marina, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Excoecaria agallocha, Lumnitzera racemosa, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora stylosa, and Sonneratia alba. Based on the results of the study, the amount of carbon obtained above and below the soil surface is 279.83 MgC/Ha, the amount of soil carbon is 58.9 MgC/Ha and the amount of soil sediment carbon is 1,175.73 MgC/Ha. So that the total carbon storage in the mangrove forest of Gambus Laut Village, Limapuluh District is 1,514.45 MgC / Ha.en_US
