Belangke bamboo can be used as raw material for laminate boards. However, the problem with bamboo is it easily attacked by destructive organisms, so chemical modifications are need to be carried out to increase the strength and durability of bamboo. The chemical modification carried out is by impregnation with citric acid, borax and polystyrene. This research aims to analyze the physical and mechanical properties of belangke bamboo laminated boards modified by citric acid, borax and polystyrene. In addition, the aim of this research is to determine the optimal type of solution for modifying belangke bamboo (Gigantochloa pruriens) laminated boards. The raw material in the form of belangke bamboo lamina was given 3 treatments, that are citric acid, borax and polystyrene, by vacuuming for 30 minutes and pressing for 30 minutes at a pressure of 6.6 Bar. The laminate board is made of 3 layers measuring 30 cm long x 15 cm wide x 1.5 cm thick using 280 g/m2 isocyanate adhesive which is cold pressed for 24 hours and conditioned for 1 day. The laminated boards were then tested for their physical and mechanical properties, namely additional weight, density, air content, flexural strength, fracture strength, shear strength, then analyzed using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (RAL). The results of the physical properties research show that the average value of the weight gain (WPG) test ranges from 8.17 to 9.68%, density ranges from 0.78 - 0.81 g/cm3, water content ranges from 7.60 - 8.35 %. The mechanical properties test results show that the average value of the flexural strength test (MOE) ranges from 121129.32 – 157110.59 kg/cm2, fracture strength (MOR) ranges from 823.91 – 1357.40 kg/cm2, and shear strength ranges from 22 .33 – 36.68 kg/cm2. Based on the results of print analysis, the best type of laminate board is found in the polystyrene treatment.en_US
