Water distribution efficiency is the ratio of the amount of water delivered to the fields to the amount of water drawn from the river, expressed as a percentage. This efficiency is calculated by multiplying the efficiencies of the primary, secondary, and tertiary channels. Factors such as seepage, percolation, and evaporation influence this efficiency. Research conducted in the Namu Sira-sira irrigation area, Langkat Regency, found that the water distribution efficiency was 38.74%, with the efficiency in the primary channel being 82.88%, in the secondary channel 71.84%, and in the tertiary channel 65.07%. The seepage in the primary channel was recorded at 0.0324 mm/day, in the secondary channel at 0.0244 mm/day, and in the tertiary channel at 0.0086 mm/day, with percolation at 4.00 mm/day and evaporation at 2.555 mm/day.
