Deiksis Analysis on Waleed Saef's Omar Film
Abstract
This research discusses the deiksis in the film Omar by Waleed Saif. The problem in this study is how to use deiksis and its types in dialogue in Omar's film conversation so that it can support the actions of the characters in the film when speaking. The purpose of the study is to find out the types and describe the use of deiksis contained in the dialogue of the Omar film by Waleed Saif. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Data was collected using the observation method and the carat technique. This research uses a pragmatic theory pioneered by Levinson. The results of this study show that there is a deiksis persona, time, place, social and discourse, to support the actions of the characters in Omar's film when the characters speak about the appointment of pronouns, time and place when the speech event takes place as well as the social context and discourse in the speech sentence, so that the speech partner or the audience understands who, when, where the speech is carried out. In addition, the use of deiksis is found by gestural and symbolic, but what is more dominant used by the speaker in this film is the use of deiksis symbolically, namely with the symbol of words not accompanied by gestures so that the speech partner or film connoisseurs are required to master the language used in this film.
