dc.description.abstract | This research aims to determine the role of librarians in enhancing the reading interest of library users at the Labuhanbatu Regency Library and Archives Service. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data and sources used were primary and secondary data sources. The data analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was verified through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. There were five informants in the study: the head of the library, librarians, high school students, university students, and civil servants. The results at the Labuhanbatu Regency Library and Archives Service showed that librarians being proactive and creative is crucial for increasing reading interest. They provide polite and prompt service and engage in training to enhance their skills. Moreover, they organize literacy programs and seminars to meet informational needs. The library also offers the IPUSDA Labuhanbatu app and OPAC, and conducts surveys to update the collection. However, users have expressed a desire for improvements in the collection and app features. The library strives to increase the availability of its collection by monitoring user feedback and collection quality, and by collaborating with educational institutions. Regular updates to the collection and the addition of new acquisitions continue to be made to attract more readers. Consequently, the library routinely updates its collection, improves the application, and continues to hold creative activities to draw more visitors and enhance service quality. | en_US |
