Efektivitas Komunikasi Interpersonal dalam Melayani Pemustaka di Perpustakaan Politeknik Pariwisata Negeri Medan

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the interpersonal communication of librarians in serving readers at the Medan State Tourism Polytechnic Library. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The population of this study are active students as registered readers of the Medan State Tourism Polytechnic Library in 2023. The population is 1.328 students and with a total sample of 93 student calculated using the Slovin formula. Data collection is done through distributing questionnaires. The results of the research show that the effectiveness of interpersonal communication of Medan State Tourism Polytechnic librarians based on the openness aspect is relatively high with a percentage of 79.6%. The empathy aspect is moderate at 74.2%. The support aspect is high with a percentage of 62.4%. Positive feelings are classified as moderate at 60.2%. The equality aspect is relatively high with a value of 67.7%. Based on the results of this study, the effectiveness of interpersonal communication of librarians at the Medan State Tourism Polytechnic library is classified as high.
