Kehidupan Petani Kemenyan di Desa Bonandolok, Kecamatan Sijamapolang Kabupaten Humbang Hasundutan (1973-2000)

Abstract

This research aims to find out about the background of incense farming and to determine the influence of incense farming on the socio-economic life of the community in Bonandolok Village. The method used in this research is the historical method using heuristic stages (gathering sources or information), source criticism (source testing), interpretation (interpreting or concluding data), and historiography (writing in the form of a thesis). Frankincense has long been found in the Bonandolok Village area, but at that time it was not specifically cultivated by the community. The people of Bonandolok Village initially farmed rice and sweet potatoes as a source of basic income. Frankincense plants have been planted by several residents, after the increasing demand for frankincense and the increasing price of frankincense made people increasingly interested in farming frankincense as a daily livelihood. This agriculture is increasingly developing because the cultivation system is relatively easy and does not require a lot of capital. Apart from that, incense farming can boost the economy of the people in Bonandolok Village.
