Anima of The Main Character in Spike Jonze’s Her Film (2013)

Abstract

Every human being has different unique characteristics within oneself, however it is believed that human beings share common reoccurring patterns known as archetypes. This study examines the portrayal of anima characteristics in Theodore as the main character of Her film that produced in 2013 and analyses how the anima archetype influences Theodore’s way of living. The concept used in this research is anima archetype theory. The descriptive qualitative method is employed to investigate the seven anima characteristics within the main character of the film and to describe the several effects of anima which exposes influences in his life with content analysis used as the method. The result of this research reveals that the main character of the film exhibits all the seven anima characteristics. It is evident that the existence of anima within the main character’s unconscious have influenced his way of living and interact with surroundings.
