This study delves into the archetype patterns in the main characters of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie. This study aims to identify the archetype patterns that are found in the both of main characters, Katniss and Peeta Melark and to analyze how the archetype shapes the plot and theme of the movie. Archetype by Carl Jung is the main theory that is used in this study. Archetype is a universal pattern, motif, and symbol in the human unconscious mind that is inherited from generation to generation. It is a collective unconscious that appears in the human psyche. The descriptive qualitative method is applied to analyze the object of this study, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie. The analysis and discussion reveal that Katniss embodies rebel, hero, and animus. Peeta embodies rebel, anima, and lover. The archetypes that appear in the main characters significantly shape the plot and theme. They drive the storyline and form the theme of the movie.
