Andung Paragat is a spontaneous song in taking sap/bagot water. There is a tradition with the song Andung-andung which was stated spontaneously by Paragat to persuade the bagot tree to release the sap contained in the bagot tree which will be performed in such a way that it becomes a typical Batak drink, namely Tuak. The process of tapping sap from bagot, called maragat, is usually carried out by a paragat which is served with raru (bark). The aim of this research is that the first aim is to analyze the textual meaning of Andung and its function in the Nira/Bagot Tapping Process in Samosir, which is a lament presented in the form of a melody or singing with a specific aim and purpose. Andung are poetic words, which have a deep meaning about the life story of the person being mourned. The second objective is to provide information regarding the textual meaning of Andung Paragat used in the traditions of the Samosir community. This research uses descriptive research methods with a qualitative approach. In using this research method there are three stages; namely library studies, field work and laboratory desk work. In order to answer this problem, this thesis is guided by Simiotic theory. Study of the meanings contained in song texts, and music theory, namely this theory explains several ways of describing music, namely: (1) tonality, (2) rhythm, (3) form, (4) tempo, and (5) melodic contour. The theory used in this research is semiotic theory, namely the study of people's lives using these signs. The results of this research have meaning in the form or singing pattern of the Andung Paragat song, namely Strophic or a style of singing that is repeated but with different text. It can be said that the song Andung Paragat is a song that prioritizes text rather than melody, which is called Logogenic. In terms of melody, the song Andung Paragat is very touching and the melody pattern is often used in other Batak andungs.
