This research is about expressionlessness, heuristic reading, and hermeneutic reading
in the lyrics of the song “Sayyidī Ar-Raīs” using Michael Riffaterre's theory. The
research method used is an audio-visual approach with a qualitative method with data
collection techniques of listening and recording methods. The analysis approach uses
a semiotic approach to the lyrics of the song “Sayyidī Ar-Raīs” Or Mr. President, which
consists of 5 stanzas 42 lines. The results showed that the lack of continuity of
expression contained in the song lyrics is caused by the replacement of meanings such
as simile, metaphor, personification, synecdoche, metonymy, deviation of the meaning
of ambiguity, contradiction, creation of rhyme meaning, and typography. Heuristic and
hermeneutic readings reveal the deep meaning of the suffering of the Palestinian people
in the conflict with Israel. The theme of this song carries a message about the suffering
of Palestinian children identified through the matrix, which is the core of the basic idea
of the text; model, which is the pattern or structure of the matrix; and variant, which is
the variation or development of the model. The hypogram in the lyrics of this song is
related to the inauguration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel approved by world
leaders. In conclusion, this research contributes to the suffering of Palestinian children,
victims of war who long for peace and want to meet Mr. President such as Donald
Trump, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un, Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau, and António
Guterres.
