This study aims to understand the meaning of Seijin shiki from the perspective of young people in Okinawa, Japan. The focus of the research is to identify the changes felt by young Okinawans before and after participating in Seijin shiki. The scope of the study is limited to young Japanese people in Okinawa who have undergone Seijin shiki in 2023. Two research methods were used: interviews conducted with Okinawan residents through G-form and a literature study using several references on the Seijin shiki adulthood ceremony. The results of the study show that the meaning of Seijin shiki for young Japanese people is a maturation process where they change their mindset and seek inspiration to become better individuals. Life before undergoing Seijin shiki for young Okinawans in Japan did not involve severe sanctions according to national law when making mistakes. Additionally, they were not allowed to drive and were not permitted to consume alcoholic beverages. After undergoing Seijin shiki, the lives of young Okinawans in Japan transformed into those of adults who must take full responsibility for their actions. They are allowed to apply for a driver's license and to consume alcoholic beverages. This research provides insights into the thoughts and opinions of young Okinawans regarding deeply rooted Japanese traditions and culture, particularly the Seijinshiki tradition.en_US
