dc.description.abstract | Damage to electronic devices occurs while in use can be a serious obstacle to work, so that it can cause interference and even require additional time and costs to repair it, based on the results of data collection at UMKM Electronic Repair Kec. Medan Denai, it was found that one of the electronic devices that most often had problems was a blender. Damage often occurs to this product based on the results of observations that the blades do not rotate normally and the number of components is large. In this study there are 27 component units. This product design improvement begins with identifying problems with the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Phase I and II methods. Based on the results of QFD Phase I, the technical characteristics that are prioritized for improvement are design efficiency and ease of assembly. The results of QFD Phase II showed that the component that was prioritized for immediate improvement was the blade. Initial improvements were made using the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) method by identifying contradictions. The solution to resolve the contradiction using Contradiction Matrix is Local Quality by replacing the blade material. Further improvements were made using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA). The improvement design is carried out by replacing the blade material so that it has good enough characteristics. The results of the improved blender design design increased the design efficiency from 4.81% to 6.48% and the cost of the blade material from Rp14,000 to Rp10,200, while the assembly time and assembly costs did not change because this improvement was a material replacement. | en_US |
