Mangroves are one of the ecosystems that grow in coastal areas, which are influenced by tides and around river mouths that carry sediments from upstream. Mangrove ecosystems play a role in mitigating climate change due to global warming. They can reduce CO2 through the ‘sequestration’ mechanism, which is the absorption of carbon from the atmosphere and its storage in several compartments, such as plants, litter, and soil organic matter. This study aims to determine the estimation of carbon storage in Api-Api Mangrove plants (Avicennia marina F.) in Pante Bayam Village, Madat District, East Aceh Regency. This research was conducted in Pante Bayam, Madat Sub-district, East Aceh District, Aceh Province, with a place elevation of ± 13 masl from October 2023 to February 2024. This research was conducted using a survey method using a non-factorial Randomised Group Design (RAK) with six replicates. Treatment factors are UM0 (mangrove plants five years), UM1 (mangrove plants ten years), UM2 (mangrove plants fifteen years), UM3 (mangrove plants twenty years). The results showed that the total carbon value of mangrove biomass with different plant ages is 48.2 tonnes/ha and the total carbon value of organic soil is 259,238 tonnes/ha. The total carbon value of biomass and soil in api-api mangrove stands with different plant ages is 259,281.2 tonnes/ha.
