Peran Musikal Saxophone Alto dalam Permainan Uning Uningan pada Acara Perkawinan Batak Toba di Kota Perbaungan

Abstract

This research aims to describe the function of the Alto Saxophone in Toba Batak Uning-Uningan music, find out the sound it produces, the history of the Saxophone's entry into uning-uningan music, the technique of playing the Saxophone in following the melody of the flute which carries the song aek sibulbulon and the thoughts and factors that influence the Saxophone. could be part of the Toba Batak uning-uningan. In this research, the theory used is Shusumu Khasima's theory, namely a structural and functional approach, and Bruno Netll's, namely analyzing and describing music from what we see and what we hear. In this research, the methods that will be used are descriptive and qualitative methods. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation and field notes. The Saxophone analysis process will be carried out by analyzing the sound and function. The results obtained in the city of Perbaungan are that Saxophone has begun to exist and is known by the public as one of the uning-uningan music groups. However, the presence of the Saxophone still cannot replace the flute as the main melody carrier in playing the uning-ingan. The saxophone simply follows every melody played by the flute, and thickens the melody
