Analisis Vegetasi Mangrove di KTH Sama Mangrove Bersatu Desa Bogak Besar Kecamatan Teluk Mengkudu Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai
Mangrove Vegetation Analysis in The HKM KTH Sama Mangrove Bersatu, Bogak Besar Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency
Abstract
Mangrove forests are important coastal ecosystems in maintaining environmental balance and protecting beachs from storms and sea water intrusion. This research aims to analyze the vegetation structure, species diversity, diversity index, and evenness of mangrove vegetation in the HKM Sama Mangrove Bersatu in Bogak Besar Village. The community in this village has been conserving mangroves for several decades. The research method used simple random sampling with plot sizes of 10m x 10m repeated 20 times. Vegetation analysis was carried out at the seedling, sapling, and tree levels to describe forest structure The research results show that type Avicennia alba species dominates at the tree level, while Avicennia lanata dominates at the sapling and seedling levels. Mangrove species diversity at the tree, sapling, seedling, and understory levels is found to be moderate, with evenness levels indicating stability in species distribution. The vertical structure of mangrove forests is dominated by trees with a height of 4-6 meters. Horizontally, the forest forms an inverted “J” pattern, indicating forest of all ages (unaged forest) which is normal and healthy. The evenness value at the tree, sapling and seedling level shows that the distribution of mangroves tends to balance. The mangrove area can provide new opportunities for the Sama Mangrove Bersatu Community Forest group, such as future ecotourism development and current fish and crab habitat preservation.
