dc.description.abstractThis research discusses the categorization and meaning of interjection in Batak Angkola language. The research aims to describe the categorization and meaning of interjection in Batak Angkola. Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) Theory is applied to analyze interjections based on categorization and meaning. This research uses a qualitative approach and Verbal Data is used as research data. Data are analysed using matching and distribution methods. The research results are presented using formal and informal methods. The results of this research indicate that there are three categories of interjection in Batak Angkola language, namely cognitive, volitive and emotive categories which are realised into fourteen types of semantic components of interjection in Batak Angkola language. Cognitive categories divide interjections into five types, volitive categories divide interjections into five types, and emotive categories divide interjections into four types. Based on the semantic component, each category contains polysemy. Cognitive interjection in Batak Angkola language contains polysemy of the words PIKIR, TAHU, RASA, and DUGA. Volitive interjection in Batak Angkola language contains polysemy of the words INGIN, LAKU and KATA. Emotive interjection in Batak Angkola language contains polysemy of the words RASA and PIKIR.en_US
