dc.description.abstract | Background: Cold powder has been used for generations in Indonesia to treat skin problems such as acne and dull skin, treat and soothe facial skin, and protect against the adverse effects of sunlight. The temugiring plant (Curcuma heyneana) is a plant that has potential antibacterial activity because it contains various chemical compounds such as curcumin, flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins. The combination of cold powder with temugiring extract is expected to increase antibacterial activity against Propioni acnes.
Objective: This research is to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of cold powder with a combination of temugiring extract (Curcuma heyneana) against Propioni acnes.
Methods: In this study, temugiring was extracted by digestion method to obtain temugiring extract. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity test was carried out using the well-diffusion method with extract concentrations of 50 mg/ml, 40 mg/ml, 30 mg/ml, 20 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml, and cold powder preparations with a combination of temugiring extract 10 mg/ml.
Results: The results of the antibacterial activity test of cold powder combined with temugiring extract against Propioni acnes obtained the minimum inhibitory concentration at a concentration of 10 mg/ml with an inhibition area diameter of 6.33 mm.
Conclusion: Cold powder with temugiring extract combination has good antibacterial activity against Propioni acnes. | en_US |
