dc.description.abstractThis study aims to analyze the effect of entrepreneurial motivation variables and entrepreneurial characteristics on the performance of traditional snack entrepreneurs in fostered micro enterprises at Dinas Koperasi dan UMKM Kota Medan through competency as intervening variable. The phenomenon of problems that occur in the decline in entrepreneurial performance is training activities that focus more on digital financial management and business permits which result in lack of competence related to digital marketing, the compulsion to choose to become entrepreneurs because of the limited available employment opportunities that affect motivation in entrepreneurship, and have the characteristics of distrus themselves to innovate. This type of research is using a quantitative descriptive approach. The nature of this research is associative research and the data used are primary data and secondary data obtained through a list of questionnaire statements and interviews and documentation studies. Measurements in this study used by Likert scale. Population and sample in this research amounted to 94 respondents who are micro-entrepreneurs assisted by Dinas Koperasi dan UMKM Kota Medan who have joined for 2 years and aged 18 years and over. Data collection techniques by using total sampling. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistical analysis and path analysis, using Smart PLS. The results of the study found that entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial characteristics directly has a positive and significant effect on competency. Entrepreneurial motivation variables and entrepreneurial characteristics directly have a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial performance. The competence variable has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial performance, then indirectly entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial characteristics through competency have a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial performance.en_US
