dc.description.abstractPorang is a food plant whose tubers are used as an alternative food flour. The demand for porang cannot be fulfilled optimally because in Indonesia, porang has not been cultivated intensively and is still very dependent on nature. The porang plant is a plant that has a high tolerance for shaded environments and has dormancy problems. This makes porang plants difficult to develop. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of shade intensity and the provision of gibberellin on breaking dormancy and growth of porang. The research was conducted in Durian Village, Rantau District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, starting from February to June 2023. The research design used was a split plot design with a randomized block design. As the main plot is the shade intensity (25, 50, 75%) and as a subplot is the gibberellin concentration (0, 100, 200 and 300 ppm). The results of the research showed that 75% shade treatment could speed up the emergence time of shoots, the speed of shoot growth, increase the number of shoots, speed up the end of the dormancy period, increase plant height, number of leaves, shoot wet weight, shoot dry weight, root wet weight and root dry weight. Gibberellin treatment with a concentration of 300 ppm can speed up the emergence of shoots, the speed of shoot growth, the end of the dormancy period, increase plant height, number of leaves, root wet weight and dry weight. The interaction between shade intensity of 75% and gibberellin concentration of 300 ppm can speed up the time of shoot emergence, speed of shoot growth, end of the dormancy period, number of leaves at 14 WAP, and plant height.en_US
