Bumdes is a Village Owned Enterprise founded by village communities to improve the village economy through managing natural resources, social potential and economic potential owned by the village. Bumdes can take the form of a cooperative, limited liability company (PT), or other form of business. Profits from Bumdes businesses can be used to finance village development and improve community welfare. The Indonesian government provides support, such as training, capital assistance and market access, for the formation of BUMDes. Limited quality of human resources, both in the form of experience and knowledge, is the main problem faced by BUMDes Sehati.
This research aims to describe in depth the capacity of Village Owned Enterprises in Managing the Potential of Durin Tonggal Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency through business units managed by BUMDes. The research method used in this research is a descriptive research method with qualitative analysis techniques to describe actual phenomena from events in the field. The informants for this research were the Village Head of Durin Tonggal, the BUMDes Sehati Management and the Durin Tonggal Village Community. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation related to research.
The research results show that the capacity of Sehati Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) is still experiencing obstacles in managing village potential in Durin Tonggal Village. This can be seen from human resources who do not yet have professionalism in managing village potential because most BUMDes managers are part-time employees who have jobs other than at BUMDes. Also, financial resources to support implementation activities still do not meet the needs of each business unit. Thus, BUMDes Sehati needs to increase capacity in managing village potential through capacity development programs by collaborating with government and private parties, providing training to all employees and increasing direct supervision.
