This thesis is entitled "Parental Support in Developing the Independence of
Blind Children: A Case Study at SLB-A Karya Murni." The writing of this thesis is
motivated by the recognition of the important role of parental support in developing
the independence and adaptive skills of children with visual impairment.
This study aims to explore and understand how various forms of parental
support, such as emotional, instrumental, informational, and appreciative support,
contribute to the independence of children with visual impairment. The method used
in this study is a qualitative method, by conducting interviews and observations to
collect in-depth data from parents, teachers, and the children themselves.
The results of this study show that consistent and structured parental
involvement significantly increases children's ability to perform daily activities
independently, increases their self-confidence, and improves their social
integration. The findings also emphasize the importance of early intervention and
structured training programs in achieving long-term independence for visually
impaired children.
