Dehydration is a rapid reduction in body fluids without adequate fluid intake. The primary school age group tends to be more active than the adult age group. The percentage of water content in a child's body is higher than that in an adult's body so that children are more prone to dehydration which can cause symptoms of physical weakness and decreased cognitive function. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes and physical activity on drinking water consumption in elementary students by using cross-sectional. Data was taken in September 2020 by giving questionnaires to 54 elementary school children in the Bina Santri Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Medan City. All subjects were given a questionnaire containing 15 questions on knowledge of drinking water needs, 15 attitude questions, records of daily drinking water consumption, and students' physical activity for 24 hours. Data analysis was performed using the chi square test on SPSS version 16. The results showed that most subjects were 10 years old (33.33%), both 9 and 11 years old (20.37%) and the third 12 years old (18.52). at least 13 years of age (7.41%). The results obtained were that most subjects had good knowledge (66.67%), good attitude (68.52%) and moderate physical activity (62.96%). There is a relationship between knowledge and drinking water consumption (chi square test, p = 0.014). There is a relationship between physical activity and drinking water consumption (chi square test, p = 0.009). There is a relationship between attitudes and drinking water consumption (chi square test, p = 0.000). Demographic characteristics such as age and gender have no relationship with drinking water consumption. Suggestions for the school are to provide counseling related to the meaning, signs, impacts, and ways of preventing dehydration in students so that students can avoid dehydration events.en_US
