An ideal work environment is a place that can create a clean and comfortable atmosphere. To create an ideal work environment, good arrangements are needed. The arrangement of the workspace at the North Sumatra Provincial Transportation Department is very important. The office layout supports the effectiveness of work in carrying out activities in the workspace, including improving employee productivity. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of office layout in supporting work effectiveness at the North Sumatra Provincial Transportation Department. The sample in this study is employees who work at the North Sumatra Provincial Transportation Department. The type of data source used is primary data obtained from the field in the form of observation and questionnaires. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the office layout at the North Sumatra Provincial Transportation Department plays a role in supporting employee work effectiveness. Open office space supports employee work effectiveness by facilitating communication, ensuring good air ventilation for air quality and health, providing adequate lighting to reduce eye fatigue and increase focus, maintaining routine room cleanliness, and maintaining optimal air humidity.
