Pengaruh Edukasi Gizi Seimbang dengan Media Nutrismart Flashcard terhadap Pengetahuan dan Sikap Anak Usia Sekolah di Sd Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan
The Effect of Balanced Nutrition Education Using Nutrismart Flashcard on Knowledge and Attitude of School-Aged Children at SD Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan
Abstract
Knowledge about balanced nutrition in Indonesia, especially among children, remains
relatively low. This has resulted in ongoing nutrition-related challenges in the country.
According to the 2018 Basic Health Research, the prevalence of nutritional status
among children aged 5-12 years in North Sumatra Province is nearing the national
average threshold, with 2.1% severely underweight, 5.6% underweight, 10.6%
overweight, and 9.1% obese. Providing balanced nutrition health education (nutrition
counseling) is one approach that can enhance nutritional awareness and reduce existing
nutrition-related issues. Appropriate media can stimulate learning enthusiasm and
increase student engagement during lessons. Therefore, this study aims to assess the
effect of balanced nutrition education using Nutrismart Flashcard on the knowledge and
attitude of school-aged children. The study employs a pre-experimental design with a
one-group pretest-posttest arrangement involving a sample of 43 students from SD Al-
Ulum Terpadu Medan, selected through simple random sampling. Data collection
utilized a 29-item Balanced Nutrition Guidelines questionnaire. Results from the
Wilcoxon signed-rank test indicate a significant influence of balanced nutrition
education using Nutrismart Flashcards on the knowledge and attitude of school-aged
children (p value 0.000). The average knowledge score increased from 48.79 before the
intervention to 72.51 afterward, while the average attitude score increased from 72.47
to 84.51. It is recommended that school prioritize early education on the importance of
balanced nutrition in children's daily lives and consider employing media such as
Nutrismart Flashcards to enhance children's interest in the subject.
