Hubungan Diabetes Melitus dengan Prevalensi Hipertensi di Puskesmas Namorambe

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a genetically and clinically heteregeneus metabolic disorder with manifestation in the form of loss of carbohydrate tolerance. Diabetes is a non-communicable disease that causes death. Hypertension is a condition where a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal. Consistenly elevated systemic arterial blood pressure, with systolic blood pressure >140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure >90 mmHg. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between diabetes mellitus and the prevalence of hypertension in Namorambe Community Health Center. This research uses quantitative research and a cross-sectional research design method. The research sample consisted of 82 patients at Namorambe Community Health Center. This research used simple Random Sampling and is conducted by asking 22 questions thruogh a questionnaire. The results indicate that 56 patients (68.3%) are diagnosed with DM and 26 patients (31.7%) do not suffer from DM. Meanwhile, 54 patients (65.9%) are declared suffered from hypertension and 28 patients (34.1%) do not suffer from hypertension. This research shows that there is a significant correlation beetwen diabetes mellitus and the prevalence of hypertension in Namorambe Community Health Center, with the Chi-square test, a p-value <0.05 is obtained, namely 0.017, which means there is a correlation between diabetes mellitus and prevalence in Namorambe Community Health Center.
