Factors Affecting Stress Level during Thesis Preparation for the Seniors of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Stress is a mental disorder that individuals experience as a result of pressure. The causes of stress can be internal and external factors. Final semester students encounter various activities that can trigger stress. This research aims to find out the factors affecting stress level in the final semester students of the Faculty of Nursing of Universitas Sumatera Utara in preparing their thesis. Linear multiple regression with a total sampling technique is used in this research by involving 183 respondents. The research questionnaires used consist of the questionnaires of respondent characteristics, stress level, self efficacy, self esteem and social support. The research results indicate the factor that significantly affects the stress level in the final semester students of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Sumatera Utara is self esteem. Meanwhile, gender, current residence, self-efficacy and social support give no significant effect. Attention is expected to be given to final-year students to improve their self-esteem and to avoid stress during thesis preparation.
