Risk Factors of Breast Cancer in the Women in Kota Rantang Village, Hamparan Perak Subdistrict
Abstract
Breast cancer is one of the major causes of cancer death in women in various countries. Deaths from breast cancer is the second leading case globally after lung cancer. Women are at higher risk of suffering from breast cancer than men. One of the efforts that can be made to reduce the prevalence rate of breast cancer in society is by performing prevention. Preventions that can be performed are primary prevention, secondary prevention, and tertiary prevention. The objective of this research is to reveal risk factors overview of breast cancers based on medical history, reproduction hormones, and lifestyle in Kota Rantang Village. Descriptive quantitative research design is used with cross-sectional approach in this research. The research population encompasses all women over 40 with a sample size of 82 respondents taken by using convenience sampling technique. The data are processed by descriptive analysis. The analysis results show the risk factors, namely reproduction, hormones, and lifestyle whereas medical history does not fall into risk factor category. Future researchers, in the researches to come, are suggested to begin with providing information and health education about breast cancer, and to carry out counseling on SADARI (Breast-Self Examination). The researcher also expects upcoming researches to be conducted methodologically.
