Effect of Goat Manure, Goat Urine LOF and Nitrogen Fertilizer on Soil Chemical Characteristics and Corn Plant Growth (Zea mays L.) in Entisol
Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of goat manure, goat urine LOF, nitrogen fertilizer and their interactions on soil chemical characteristics and corn plant growth (Zea mays L.) in Entisol. The research was conducted in Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera from December 2023 to May 2024. This research used Randomized Group Design (RGD) with 2 treatment factors. The first factor was organic fertilizer sourced from goat manure and goat urine lof consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely control without goat manure or goat urine LOF, goat manure 29 tons/ha, goat urine LOF 150 ml/polybag, combination of goat manure 29 tons/ha and goat urine LOF 150 ml/polybag. The second factor was nitrogen fertilizer with 3 treatment levels, namely control without urea fertilizer, urea fertilizer 150 kg/ha, urea fertilizer 300 kg/ha. The observed variables were several soil chemical characteristics, plant growth, N content of plants and N absorption. The results showed that the application of goat manure and the combination of goat manure with goat urine LOF increased total N content of soil, plant growth and N absorption. Nitrogen fertilization of 150 and 300 kg urea/ha decreased soil pH value although still at neutral criteria but only nitrogen fertilization at a dose of 300 kg urea/ha increased plant growth, N content of plants and N absorption. The interaction between goat urine LOF and nitrogen fertilizer had the highest effect in icreasing C-Oganic and CEC in the treatment of goat urine LOF and nitrogen fertilization of 300 kg urea/ha, while the highest effect on plant growth was in the combined treatment of goat manure with goat urine LOF and nitrogen fertilization of 300 kg urea/ha.
