Background: The processing of library materials is the core of a library, ensuring the systematic and efficient retrieval of infomiation, allowing users to quickly and accurately locate information.
Object'ive: This research aimed to understand the Activities of Library Materials Processing conducted at the Medan Independent School Library.
Method : The data collection method used during observations included interviews, observation, documentation, and literature reviews conducted at the Medan Independent School Library.
Results: This research showed that the processing ofl ibrary materials at the Medan Independent School Library bad been well-implemented. 1l1e library material processing activities included inventory, classification, cataloging, labeling and barcoding, and book shelving. Both processing and services used an automation system through the Acccssit Librnry application.
Conclusion: The collection processing at the Medan Independent School Libra ry begins with ehecldng received collections before processing, conducting inventory by stamping, classifying library materials using the DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) guide, cataloging by extracting brief data from the collection and inputting it into the Acccssit Library au toma tion system, labeling the books, and arranging the processed collections on shelves. The research also found a shonagc of libra.rians, resulting in less-than-optimal processing of library materials and a large number of outdated book collections.
