    Abstract
Increased economic growth tends to increase the demand for labor, create more employment opportunities, and ultimately improve people's welfare. On the other hand, the increase in population, especially the productive age, increases the supply of labor that can take advantage of available job opportunities. However, if the growth in employment opportunities is not proportional to the increase in population, especially labor, this can lead to an increase in unemployment and become a problem. Economic sectors that experience rapid growth are expected to influence the availability of new jobs to reduce unemployment. Using the percentage value of GRDP distribution as a proxy in each economic sector, this study aims to analyze and test the influence of the agricultural sector, industrial sector, and trade sector on employment opportunities in 8 cities in North Sumatra Province partially or simultaneously. The type of research used is quantitative. The type of data in this research is secondary data with panel data regression method fixed Effect Model which ranges from 2014 – 2023 in 8 cities in North Sumatra province. The research results show that the agricultural sector has no effect on employment opportunities in 8 cities in North Sumatra province in 2014 - 2023. Meanwhile, the industrial sector and the trade sector have a positive and significant influence on employment opportunities in 8 cities in North Sumatra province in 2014 - 2023.
