Abstract
Increased economic growth tends to increase the demand for labor, create more employment opportunities, and ultimately improve people's welfare. On the other hand, the increase in population, especially the productive age, increases the supply of labor that can take advantage of available job opportunities. However, if the growth in employment opportunities is not proportional to the increase in population, especially labor, this can lead to an increase in unemployment and become a problem. Economic sectors that experience rapid growth are expected to influence the availability of new jobs to reduce unemployment. Using the percentage value of GRDP distribution as a proxy in each economic sector, this study aims to analyze and test the influence of the agricultural sector, industrial sector, and trade sector on employment opportunities in 8 cities in North Sumatra Province partially or simultaneously.
