This research aims to describe the adaptation strategies carried out by fishermen in facing climate change, especially in Sentang village, Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The technique for determining informants in this research uses a purposive sampling technique, which is a technique that takes data sources with certain considerations, for example the person is considered to know best about what we expect. There are 3 categories of informants in this research, namely key informants (Employees of the Sergai Regency Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service), Main Informants (Sentang Village Fishermen), and additional informants (Middlemen and Fishermen's Families). The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, interviews, documentation, secondary data and literature study. The results of this research show that each fisherman has their own adaptation strategy to support their family. The adaptation strategies implemented by fishing communities include active strategies by optimizing family potential, network strategies by utilizing social networks, and passive strategies by reducing expenses. In this case, the adaptation strategies carried out by fishing communities reflect individual activities or social practices carried out by social groups in accordance with Max Weber's view of social action which states that social reality is based on individual goals and social actions. The 4 types of social action according to Max Weber are instrumental rational action, value-oriented action, affective action and traditional action.en_US
