Pemaknaan Cosplayer Mengenai Karakter Yor Forger (Studi dengan Pendekatan Fenomenologis tentang Karakter Yor Forger pada Serial Anime “Spy X Family” dalam Konten Reels Kolaborasi pada Akun Instagram @cosercosjm)

Abstract

The research is entitled “Cosplayer Reception of Yor Forger's Character”. The research method is qualitative research with a phenomenological paradigm. The purpose of the research was to find out cosplayers reception of Yor Forger's “Spy x Family” character as well as their position in the content of the collaboration reels uploaded on @cosercosjm Instagram account. Theory used is the reception theory by Stuart Hall. The researcher used the purposive sampling technique and established criteria for the cosplayer as well as the content of the collaboration reels to be studied, based on that criteria researcher appointed three cosplayers as informants. Researcher used interview and non-participant observation as the data collection methods. The results of research show that the character of Yor Forger “Spy x Family” are she loves her family and willing to do anything for her family, wife material despite not fulfilling her role as the housewife, strong, an assassin named “Thorn Princess”, likes to get drunk, innocent, as well as a hard worker. The informants' explanations of these characters are connected with their backgrounds, such as jobs, favorite characters, even their surroundings. The content created by the cosplayers is based on two reasons, because they’re inspired by other cosplayers or their own idea because they like the anime series. The Yor Forger character in the content is divided into two, namely two contents corresponding to the Yor Forger character (dominant-hegemonic position, agree), and one content not matching the Yor Forge character (oppositional position, disagreed).
