| dc.description.abstract | Background: Inactive dynamic archives are records that are not directly used as information materials. Inactive archives are stored in the archives unit and are rarely retrieved from storage.
Objective: This research aimed to analyze the management of inactive dynamic archives at the Library and Archives Service of Karo Regency. Method: The data collection methods used included observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review.
Results: The research showed that the management of inactive dynamic archives at the Library and Archives Service of Karo Regency was carried out through several procedures as follows: Storage of inactive archives at the Library and Archives Service of Karo Regency involved steps such as sorting archives and non-archives, grouping archives based on year and classification, describing the archives, maneuvering descriptions, assigning definitive numbers, protecting the archives with casing paper, numbering the casing paper, and storing the archives in organized archive boxes based on number and department of origin. The maintenance of inactive archives included activities such as using camphor. The reduction of inactive archives included transferring unprocessed archives from the processing unit to the archival unit, arranging inactive archives, making lists of inactive archives, and issuing transfer memos. The destruction of inactive archives included forming committees, selecting committee members, evaluating the archives, creating a list of archives proposed for destruction, organizing archives for destruction, preparing a destruction report, and carrying out the destruction.
Conclusion: The storage, reduction, and destruction of archives at the Library and Archives Service of Karo Regency comply with the Archival Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 43 of 2009, although the maintenance of archives still has several deficiencies in meeting the standards set by the Archival Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 43 of 2009. | en_US |
