dc.description.abstract | Every human has their own conflicts and different perspectives on handling them,
which can change their mindset and shape their character. This thesis aims to
determine the characteristics portrayed by the main character and describe the
conflicts that the main character experiences in the movie Swallow. The writer used
the characterization theory from M.J Murphy and the conflict theory proposed by
William Kenney. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The result of
this study shows the characteristics of the main character Hunter, who is a kind,
selfless, honest, and straightforward woman. Hunter’s dark past makes her insecure,
feel disregarded, and a fearful woman. These characteristics lead her to experience
both internal and external conflicts in her life. The internal conflicts that Hunter
feels refer to the inner struggle that Hunter experiences due to her marriage, her
illness, and unresolved trauma from her past. Externally, Hunter faces conflict with
people around her, with society, and with nature. It can be concluded that Hunter’s
characteristics, along with her internal and external conflicts, shape her journey and
influence her overall development in the movie. | en_US |
