This research discusses the glory of the Karya Youth Association in North Sumatra which took place from 1969 -2009. The aim of the research is to explain the background to the founding of the Karya Youth Association in North Sumatra under the leadership of Olo Panggabean on August 28 1969, explain the development and glory of the Karya Youth Association in North Sumatra in 1969-2009, explain the contribution of the Karya Youth Association in North Sumatra in 1969-2009. The method used in this research is the historical method, namely Heuristics, Verification/Criticism, Interpretation, and the refinement stage, namely Historiography. At the time of carrying out this research, the author conducted literature studies and field studies to obtain important archives and quality informants who were witnesses to history. The literature study was carried out by visiting the offices of press companies and also asking for archives that had been kept by historical actors. Meanwhile, field studies were carried out by direct interviews with resource persons. The results of this research are various important information obtained by the author explaining the emergence of the IPK since 28 August 1969 as one of the large organizations that is important through its influence on political dynamics in North Sumatra, as well as the various social actions carried out to support the welfare of many people. On April 30 2009, the founder of the Karya Youth Association, Olo Panggabean, died in Medan. Many young people in North Sumatra are joining and training for leadership by becoming part of the IPK cadre, so that they increasingly progress and emerge as public figures who are admired and respected in society, such as: Moses Tambunan, Uli Tobing, Benny Sihotang, Rajamin Sirait, and the other characters. However, currently IPK activities tend to be passive and reduced in the community so that they are more likely to be seen during the implementation of democracy, so the author hopes that IPK can restore its glory and develop even better in the future.en_US
