Peran Kelompok Usaha Rakyat dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM) di Kecamatan Medan Kota

Abstract

This research discusses the role of people's business groups in improving the skills of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Medan City District. People's Business Group is an association or group formed by people who have small or micro business activities. The existence of this People's Business Group is very important in supporting and empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Indonesia. The main aim of forming the People's Business Group is to facilitate and empower UMKM in developing their businesses. This group aims to increase the capacity and skills of its members in managing businesses, as well as helping them access resources such as capital, marketing and technology. Through People's Business Groups, UMKM actors can share information, knowledge and experience with each other in running their businesses. This research aims to determine the role of people's business groups in improving the skills of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Medan Kota District. This research uses role theory and social capital theory. In this research, the researcher chose to use qualitative research methods because this type of research focuses on a comprehensive and in-depth description of a condition in its natural context. The key informant in this research is the Chairman of the People's Business Group. And the main informants are 5 members of the People's Business Group who are active and own UMKM businesses in Medan Kota District. The results of this research show that people's business groups play an important role in improving this. This can be seen in the success of UMKM traders who are much more skilled in managing the productivity of their UMKM, managing their finances and business capital.
