dc.description.abstractEthnozoology is the study of local knowledge regarding fauna that is culturally related to human communities. The aim of ethnozoological research is to document the use and processing of animals in certain communities. This ethnozoological study can make a major contribution to the process of recognizing the natural animal resources that exist in an area through data collection activities on local knowledge of local communities. This research aims to support conservation and utilization efforts. The data collection method used was interviews. Informants were determined using the snowball method. Determining Informants will be completed when the data has been collected and the activity time has run out. Informants interviewed included elders, traditional administrators, community leaders and individuals who knew and/or used animals in Urat II Village. The results of the research showed that in interviews with 23 selected informants, there were 37 types of animals known to the Toba Batak Tribe Community in Urat II Village. Based on the results of research by the Toba Batak tribe community in Urat II Village. The number of animal groups whose members are known to the public: Mammals (14 types), Aves (8 types), Reptiles (5 types), Pisces (5 types), Insecta (3 types), Clitellata (1 type) and Chilopoda (1 type ). The use of animals is also very varied, both as food, traditional medicine, rituals, myths, and even as pets. The animal parts used are also varied, such as whole body parts, meat, bile, tongue, blood, oil and voice. Based on IUCN conservation status, there are 12 animals which are included in the Least Concern category, 2 types of Critically Endangered animals, the Vulnerable category or 5 types of animals and Not Evaluated 1 type of animal.en_US
