dc.description.abstractThis research discusses about the phenomenon of karoushi (death due to overwork) in Japan. This study aims to describe the factors that cause karoushi and the Japanese government's efforts to overcome the occurrence of karoushi. This research focuses on the factors that cause karoushi and the Japanese government's efforts to overcome it. This research uses descriptive research methods with data collection techniques by literature study. The theory used is the theory of phenomenology. The results of this study are that there are several factors that cause karoushi in Japan, including Work Addiction (maniac work), the existence of a competitive work environment, and the doctrine of cultural values in the Company. While the Japanese government's efforts in overcoming karoushi are, the implementation of Premium Friday on every last Friday of the month. In this program, workers can go home early, namely at 15:00 and implement a paid leave policy (yuukyuu kyuuka) for 18.5 days per year in addition to other types of leave.en_US
