dc.description.abstract | This thesis is entitled Language Style in the Umpasa Mahata Sinamot of Toba Batak Ethnicity: Stylistic Study. Umpasa is a variety of oral literature belonging to the Toba Batak ethnic group and is spoken in Toba Batak traditional ceremonies which signifies expressions of blessing, advice and prayer.This research aims to: describe the language styles contained in the Toba Batak ethnic umpasa marhata sinamot and describe the meaning of the language styles used in the Toba Batak ethnic umpasa marhata sinamot. The theory used to analyze is the stylistic theory put forward by Henry Guntur Tarigan 2013 book teaching language style. The sources in this research are literature studies and resouece persons/raja parhata in the marhata sinamot ceremony. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods. The results obtained from this research are: The use of language styles in the Toba Batak ethnic umpasa marhata sinamot are: 1). There are 4 types of split language styles, namely assonance, mesodilopsis, antanaklasis, anaphora. 2).There are 4 types of comparative language styles, namely: Imagery, defersonification, pleonasm, peripheasis. 3). There are 4 types of conflicting language styles, namely: oxymoron, irony, inuendo, sarcasm. 4). There are 2 types of linking language styles, namely: metonymy and antonomasia. The meaning of the Toba Batak ethnic umpasa marhata sinamot is expression of hope, advice and suffering in each sentence of the Toba Batak ethnic traditional ceremony umpasa marhata sinamot. | en_US |
