dc.description.abstract | Local knowledge is important for society in adapting to nature and becoming a
cultural heritage, as well as in utilizing and managing natural resources with
knowledge or ideas and cultural values contained in society. As the times progress,
wisdom-based knowledge is often abandoned, the socio-cultural values that have
been adhered to for a long time by rural communities are lost. The aim of this
research is to obtain on the relationship between local wisdom and the community's
economy. The stages of this research method are conducting field
observations/measurements, literature studies, descriptive analysis and simple
correlation tests, namely simultaneous tests (F) and partial tests (t). From the
results of the descriptive analysis, it can be seen that local knowledge in forest
management is Marsiapadapari; Manig; Marhontas; and Maragat. and the
economic resources of the people of the Forest Management Unit XII Tarutung
area are obtained from styrax benzoin dryand resin, pine resin and coffee. From
the results of the F test and t test, it is known that there is no affect of local wisdom
on the economy of the Forest Management Unit XII Tarutung community. The
research find that local knowledge and the economic level of the community in the
Forest Management Unit XII Tarutung area have no correlation. because the
economy of the community has not changed after local knowledge has now begun
