Rice straw is an organic material that can be used as organic fertilizer. Usually rice straw is burned or used as animal feed by farmers in Pematang Setrak village. The use of rice straw compost can improve soil quality which has decreased due to the use of organic fertilizer. This research aims to determine the growth and production of two varieties of lowland rice (Oryza sativa L.) by administering various doses of rice straw compost. This research was conducted from May to October 2022. This research used a factorial Split Plot Design (RPT) with 2 treatment factors and 3 replications. As the main plot is Varieties (Ciherang and HIPA 20) and as a sub plot is the dose of rice straw compost (0; 4; 5 and 6 tonnes/ha). The results of the research showed that the varietal treatment used had a significant effect on plant height at 3-8 WAP, panicle length, per panicle grain weight and grain weight per plot and had no significant effect on the parameters of number of tillers, number of panicles, percentage of panicles and weight of 1000 seeds. Providing rice straw compost had a significant effect on the parameters of number of tillers, number of panicles, percentage of full and empty panicles, weight of permalai grain, weight of grain per plot and weight of 1000 seeds. The interaction between varieties and rice straw compost dosage only had a significant effect on grain production parameters per plot and was not significantly different on any other parameters. The use of the Ciherang variety produced the best grain weight per plot at 1,949 kg. The highest weight of grain per plot was obtained by administering 5 tonnes/ha of rice straw compost with a total of 1.974 kg. The combination of Ciherang treatment and straw compost dose of 5 ton/ha had the highest grain weight per plot of 2,215 kg compared to other treatments.en_US
