This study aims to determine user perceptions of the OPAC interface at the
University of Harapan Medan library. The method used was descriptive with a
quantitative research type. Research respondents consisted of 102 users consisting of
97 students and five library staff with accidental sampling techniques. The data
collection techniques used were observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The
research instrument used a Likert scale from a scale of 1-5. Data presentation
techniques used percentage data presented in the form of graphs and tables. The
research variables used were: 1) learnability, 2) Efficiency, 3) Memorability, 4)
Errors, and 5) Satisfaction based on the Jaxob Nielsen’s usability testing method. The
results showed that the highest category for students was learnability and efficiency,
with a score of 5, and the lowest in the error category was 4, with an average score in
each category of 5. While for students with the highest category learnability with a
score of 4 and the lowest in the error category with a score of 3 with an average score
in each category is 4, with an average score in each category of 4. Indicates that there
were differences in perceptions between students and librarians. Students gave an
average score of 4 on the five variables, while librarians gave an average score of 5.
Librarians' perceptions showed excellent mastery of the OPAC interface. Meanwhile,
students' perceptions showed good mastery of the OPAC interface. This showed a
difference in the usage habits of students who were not familiar with using the OPAC
interface compared to librarians who use the interface daily.
