Uji Efektivitas Beberapa Dosis Bakteri Simbion Oryctes rhinoceros sebagai Agens Antagonis terhadap Jamur Ganoderma boninense di Laboratorium
Effectivity Assay of Several Doses of Oryctes rhinoceros Symbiont Bacteria as Antagonists Against Ganoderma boninense Fungi in the Laboratory
Abstract
Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is an important plantation crop that
produces food oil, industrial oil, a:nd biofuel (biodiesel). One of the obstacles in oil
palm plantations is basal stem rot disease caused by Ganoderma boninense.
G. boninense is a pathogenic fungus that causes basal stem rot disease in oil palm.
The use of antagonistic microorganisms can suppress, inhibit or eliminate plant
pathogen populations. One way to utilise antagonistic microorganisms is by using
symbiont bacteria. 0. rhinoceros larvae are one of the insects that have synibiont
bacteria. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of several doses and
symbiont bacteria of 0. rhinoceros larvae as antagonists against Ganodermafungi.
This research was conducted at the Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty of
Agriculture and Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences, University of North Sumatra in Desember 2023 to May 2024. This stitdy
used a factorial Completely Randomised Design (CRD) ,vith 2 f actors and 5
replicates. The results sho,ved th.at the morphology and biochemistry of symbiont
bacteria had differences and ,vere able to inhibit the gro,vth of G. boninensefungi
in vitro.
