Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease which is the largest cause of death in the world. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by increased blood sugar levels because the body is unable to produce or use insulin properly. Based on management in hospitals, controlling blood sugar levels through physical activity is still lacking, even though apart from being able to relax the body's muscles, progressive muscle relaxation can also reduce blood sugar levels. The aim of this paper is to compare the two types of diabetes mellitus nursing care problems for the two patients, then also look at the results of treatment accompanied by progressive muscle relaxation technique intervention. The results of the analysis in patients 1 and 2 showed that there was a nursing problem of unstable blood glucose levels so that hyperglycemia management was given accompanied by progressive muscle relaxation interventions which showed the results of the stability of blood sugar levels increasing or improving. The importance of implementing progressive muscle relaxation as management in hospitals for DM sufferers as a companion to treatment to reduce blood sugar levels.
